A 47-year-old man died on Wednesday after he was allegedly hit by a motor vehicle at Rundu.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime investigations coordinator in the Kavango East Region, Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu told Nampa on Thursday that the incident happened at around 19h50 on the Trans-Zambezi Highway.

It is alleged that the incident happened at Shankara village in the Ndiyona Constituency when the driver of a Toyota Hilux was driving from the west to east.

“The driver allegedly bumped the deceased, who allegedly ran onto the road. He died on the spot,” Kanyetu said.

He was identified as Tyameya Willem and his body was transported to the Nyangana Hospital mortuary.

His next of kin have been informed of his death.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
