The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) at Rosh Pinah in the ||Kharas Region are investigating a murder case after a 54-year-old man was found dead about two kilometres outside the mining town.
NamPol ||Kharas crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo told Nampa on Sunday that the deceased was identified as Fillemon Enkali, a taxi driver at the town.
Enkali’s vehicle was spottted by a security guard at the Roads Authority weighbridge at around 17h00 on Friday.
“On Saturday morning at around 06h00, the security guard still found the car there and reported the suspicious vehicle to the police. The taxi was abandoned and the body of Enkali was lying on its back with blood all over the head. A black knife was found at the scene along with an empty wallet. No suspects have been arrested yet,” said Mubebo.
He said the man allegedly left New Page Bar at around 16h00 with a passenger to collect a pizza in town but never returned.
“He was also supposed to pick up the owner of the vehicle from work but he never showed up. The owner of the taxi reported to the police at 21h00 on Friday that the man did not bring the car and his phone was just ringing,” added Mubebo.
Enkali’s next of kin have been informed of his death.
Meanwhile at Lüderitz, two men, both 25 years old, were on Friday night arrested after they were allegedly found in possession of 35.37 grams of cannabis worth N.dollars 1 768.
They are expected to appear in the Lüderitz Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of possession of illicit drugs.
Police investigations continue in both matters.
