Man nabbed with Mandrax tablets worth N.dollars 6.8 million at Ariamsvlei

A 35-year-old man is expected to appear in the Karasburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after he was arrested with alleged Mandrax tablets worth N.dollars 6 821 700.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s acting crime investigations coordinator for ||Kharas, Chief Inspector Douglas Hanse told Nampa on Tuesday that the suspect was arrested at the Ariamsvlei Border post with 56 717 full Mandrax tablets, 204 half Mandrax tablets and 113 quarter Mandrax tablets.

The arrest took place at around 10h19 after a police search of the truck he was driving.

“The 55 sealed parcels of the tablets were found during a police search of the truck which belongs to a transport company,” said Hanse.

The man is charged with dealing in dependence-producing substances and police investigations continue.
