Man run over by moving tractor at Osire

A 43-year-old charcoal worker died instantly Friday afternoon after he was allegedly run over by a moving tractor he was travelling in on a farm in the Osire district.

Namibian Police Force spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Sunday told Nampa in an interview that name of the deceased man is known to the police, but cannot be revealed now since his close relatives are yet to be informed of his death.

Mbeha said the deceased was a passenger in the tractor that killed him.

He allegedly fell down from it while it was moving and its trailer tyre allegedly ran over him.

The man died on the spot when the trailer that was towed by the tractor, full of charcoal ran over him, said the police officer.

The accident occurred on Farm Okavikenga situated about 30 kilometres west of the Osire Refugee Settlement Farm in the Omatako Constituency.

The police at Osire are now investigating a culpable homicide case in connection with the incident.
