Man shot to death in Otjomuise

A 24-year-old man died after he was allegedly shot by another man in Windhoek’s Otjomuise residential area Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rivaldo Coetzee.

According to a crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol), Coetzee was sitting in the street with his friend when an unknown person approached them while on a phone call.

It is alleged that Coetzee and his friends heard the man saying he was lost, and one of the friends told him he was in Beijing Street. The man started cocking his firearm and Coetzee stood up, walked towards him and asked why he was cocking the firearm in front of them. He then allegedly shot Coetzee in his chest and back.

Coetzee’s friends took him home, where he died.

His next of kin have been informed.

No arrest has been made and the suspect is still unknown.

Police investigations continue.
