Man stabbed to death in Swakopmund

A 28-year-old man identified as Raynes Raimanu Bekeur was reportedly fatally stabbed with a broken bottle at a bar in Swakopmund on Saturday night.

A crime report issued by Erongo Region’s crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu on Sunday, indicated that the incident occurred when a fight broke out between the deceased and a 26-year-old suspect.

The victim, who was allegedly stabbed on the left side of his neck, died on the spot. His body was transported to the Swakopmund State Hospital for certification of death and further handling.

His next of kin have been informed of his death.

The suspect was arrested on the scene and is expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated matter, the police is searching for anyone linked to the dumping of the body of a baby girl at Arandis, which was discovered at a rubbish skip container on Friday morning.

It is alleged that the body was discovered by an employee of the town council at around 08h30, who then alerted the police.

The baby was certified dead at the Arandis Clinic and was transported to the Walvis Bay mortuary for a post-mortem and police investigations continue.
