Man stabs girlfriend, takes own life at Outapi

WINDHOEK: A 25-year-old woman was fatally stabbed eight times by her boyfriend, before taking his own life at Outapi in the Omusati Region.

The incident occurred at Natanael Maxwilili Street between the late hours of Sunday night and Monday morning.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Spokesperson Slogan Matheus informed Nampa on Monday afternoon that the woman was found with eight stab wounds on her neck, body and arms, while the man was hanging from the roof of the bedroom they were in.

He said the couple was seen earlier on Sunday evening seated and talking inside a vehicle belonging to the man, which was parked outside the room where the victim had been renting.

The two then went into the room only to be discovered by a neighbour who is also renting a room nearby on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Johanna Nghishinawa Angula who was a hairdresser at a salon in Outapi, and self employed Jonas Shalongo Shinene, 31.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.

The motive behind the murder-suicide has not yet been established and police investigations continue.
