Mandrax suspected dealer arrested at Grootfontein

A 36-year-old suspected mandrax dealer was on Friday night arrested after he was allegedly found with 90 tablets of mandrax in his house in the Blikkiesdorp informal settlement at Grootfontein.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Saturday said the suspect was arrested after a tip off from the member of the general public.

We received information about his dealings during our normal street patrols and upon arrival at his we found the drugs and cash suspected to be proceeds of the drugs, Mbeha said.

The police officer said that the 90 full tables of mandrax has an estimated street value of nearly N.dollars 11 000.

Mbeha added that an amount of more than N.dollars 7 800 suspected to have been generated from the sale of the drugs was also found in his possession and confiscated as exhibit in court.

The man is expected to appear in the Grootfontein Magistrate's Court on charges of possession and/or dealing in drugs on Monday.
