A lifeless body of a man was on Tuesday afternoon retrieved from a sewage dam of the Okakarara Town Council by some community members together with members of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol).

NamPol spokesperson in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha on Wednesday told Nampa in an interview that the body has been identified by close relatives as that of the 47-year-old Job Uapendura Muramba from Otjiwarongo.

According to Mbeha, the deceased had on Friday told his family members that he intended to travel to Okakarara or Windhoek for a visit.

“His cellphone however became unreachable since that Friday, and none of his family members had a clue where he was and this prompted them to start calling each other as well as looking for him,” she said.

Mbeha stated that on Tuesday morning, some of his relatives in Otjiwarongo reported him as a missing person at the Otjiwarongo Police Station and at about 16h00 on Tuesday afternoon, his body was allegedly found floating in a sewage dam at Okakarara by learners who were walking back from school.

“So far the exact cause of his death is still unknown to us and an autopsy will be performed on his body to establish the real cause of his death,” she said.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
