Mario Academy Heads for the Mother City – Taking Youth Football to Greater Heights

One of the Namibia’s leading and most recognised football academies, the Mario Football Academy will this year head to Cape Town, the Mother City in neighbouring South Africa, for their annual tour, following a successful tour to Pretoria last year.

The academy will on the 23rd of this month depart for South Africa with an entourage of 52 young footballers for its annual football escapade to Cape Town, where they will engage in various friendly matches against the Ajax Cape Town Football Academy, Santos Football Academy, Vasco da Gama Football Academy as well as the Old Mutual Football Academy. The tour starts on 23 August until 1st September.

Apart from the traveling members, Head of the Namibia Football Association (NFA) affiliated academy, Mario Nailenge said there was still space for seven interested young footballers under the age of 9 up to Under-17 at a special price of N$3500 per person, which includes a return road ticket, accommodation and 3-meals per day.

The Academy was established in January 2006 by Mario Nailenge and is affiliated to the NFA. As one of the academies striving to be an early childhood service provider within the existing structures of Namibian football, Nailenge says their main objective is unearth raw talent, nurture it and then make sure they develop from an early stage all the way through to the higher ranks.

Unlike many academies in Namibia, Nailenge’s academy has employed the services of highly qualified youth experts and highly motivated administration staff, to deliver excellent and efficient services to ensure that future football stars are born and bred in Namibia.
