Botswana’s President, Mokgweetsi Masisi, on Sunday paid a courtesy call to President Hage Geingob on Sunday, during his one-day visit to Namibia.

The two presidents met to discuss issues of mutual interests, including bilateral and regional issues.

This was confirmed in a media statement issued by the Republic of Botswana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement said that the two heads of states were also explored potential areas of cooperation between the two countries.

On his official Twitter account, Geingob said, ‘one can choose a friend, but one doesn’t choose a neighbour,’ referencing Masisi’s visit.

“Namibia and Botswana are more than friends. In that spirit, President Masisi and I discussed today our bilateral relations that we continue to scale up for the prosperity of our people,” he added.

Masisi was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lemogang Kwape, Assistant Minister for State President, Dumezweni Mthimkhulu and other senior government officials.
