Otjiwarongo: Otjiwarongo Mayor, Gottlieb Shivute, was the first to cast his vote in the by-election of the Otjiwarongo Constituency, which started at 07h00 on Tuesday. Shortly after casting his vote at the Roman Catholic Church polling station, Shivute described the voting process to Nampa as organised, easy, and straight to the point.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Shivute expressed his satisfaction at being the first to vote and conveyed hope that all the 27,870 registered eligible voters in the constituency would participate in the election. He noted that while the queues were currently manageable, they might grow longer in the afternoon as people finish their workday.
Chairperson of the Otjiwarongo Municipality’s management committee, Godhard Hoko, accompanied Mayor Shivute to the polling station, where he voted second in the by-election. Voting is scheduled to continue until 21h00 on Tuesday.
