The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT) has cautioned people living in the town of Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region, to be cautious when moving at night due to the presence of elephants in the town.

The ministry’s public relations officer, Romeo Muyunda, in an interview with Nampa on Sunday for an update regarding the elephants observed in the vicinity of the town since Monday, said the animals were still around.

Muyunda said people should be extra cautious when walking at night because the elephants have been reported to be moving around during the night.

According to Muyunda, the elephants are believed to have migrated from Zambia as they normally do on an annual basis and it is a group of 30 elephants but the ministry is continuously monitoring the situation.
