A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her father at Linongo village in the Oshikoto Region on Sunday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the weekend crime report on Monday said the victim was left at home with her father while her mother went to work around 07h00.

The girl’s mother later noticed that she was walking with difficulty.

The 50-year-old suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

In a separate incident, the lifeless body of a two-year-old boy was found in a bucket of water at Etunda village in the Oshikoto Region.

It is alleged that the deceased was left at home with his grandmother while his mother went to church.

The remains were transported to Okankolo mortuary via Onandjokwe State Hospital for a post-mortem.

His next of kin are informed.

Police investigations in both matters continue.
