More than N.dollars 500 000 in cash and pledges was raised at a gala dinner held Thursday to raise funds for the Okakarara Annual Trade Fair.
The trade fair, which was suspended for the past two years due to the COVID-19 outbreak, will take place from 05 to 10 September 2022 at the Okakarara Trade Fair Centre.
The chairperson of the Okakarara Town Council’s management committee, Golden Katjatako in an interview with Nampa on Friday confirmed the amount and said it was also announced during the event that Standard Bank Namibia is the main sponsor of the trade fair along with Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC).
“The money we generated last night will be largely used for planning and logistics purposes, as well as to pay for private security services and market the trade fair,” said Katjatako.
A total of 135 stalls will be set up at the centre, with the prices of stalls to range between N.dollars 650 for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and N.dollars 4 000 for corporate companies and Government ministries, he said.
Katjatako further noted that the trade fair is a platform where companies, ministries, farmers and SMEs can interact with various local and international clients. About 400 exhibitors are expected.
Other activities planned for the trade fair include a beauty pageant, livestock shows, information sessions on best farming practices and cooking competitions.
An entrance fee of N.dollars 20 for adults will be charged at the gate, while children and senior citizens enter for free.
