MTC in collaboration with Netstar Namibia and Standard Bank Namibia has launched Namibia’s first-ever in-car Wi-Fi and vehicle tracking service for vehicles purchased through Standard Bank.

Through the initiative, vehicles can be fitted with an in-car Wi-Fi unit with 10GB or 30GB of data included in the Netstar subscription (which can be topped up) as of 22 August 2022, along with other connectivity featurs and benefits, courtesy of Netstar.

Melvin Angula, MTC’s Chief Commercial Officer, told Nampa in a fast-paced world where people live on the go, the need to stay connected is critical, and the introduction of the Connected Car Wi-Fi service is an exciting offering that leverages technology to enhance the motor tech industry’s experience.

“The significance of telematics and telecommunications in future vehicles cannot be overstated. Consumers are becoming more aware of how connected technologies can improve their lives, and it is our responsibility as a forward-thinking organisation to evolve in tandem with market expectations,” he said.

The units will be installed at the Netstar Namibia Service Centre, and arrangements can be made for installation outside of Windhoek.

MTC’s Chief Human Capital for Corporate Affairs and Marketing, Tim Ekandjo, in a media statement commended the partnership, saying it is a key part of MTC’s new drive towards digitalisation, in order to provide a dynamic user experience.

“A growing number of car buyers consider in-car technology to be as important as vehicle performance. They want their vehicles to be safe, efficient, well-equipped and enjoyable to drive. We can meet these growing demands by connecting people to platforms that will manage the complexity of streaming music from the cloud, real-time traffic information, and personalised roadside assistance,” he said.
