Windhoek: MultiChoice Namibia on Thursday launched a documentary titled ‘Netumbo: A Leader Beyond Politics,’ which chronicles the life and public service of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. The premiere took place at Ster-Kinekor Cinema in Windhoek and was attended by President Nandi-Ndaitwah, her husband Epaphras Denga Ndaitwah, their children, and other family members.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the event also drew several Cabinet ministers, the Prime Minister, and international guests, including Botswana President Duma Gideon Boko and former President Ian Khama. The film, produced by Joe Vision Production House in collaboration with MultiChoice, traces Nandi-Ndaitwah’s journey from her early years to her political career and her contributions to Namibia’s national development.
Speaking at the screening, the president stated that the creative industry in Namibia continues to play an important role in national growth and identity. She noted that the sector is expanding and can be used to promote the country’s talent and potential. ‘The creative industry is growing in Namibia, and it can be used to leverage the beauty of what our country has to offer. It has great potential, and we can work collectively to enhance it into something beneficial for the nation,’ she said.
The president also highlighted the importance of inclusivity in national progress and spoke about the role of the boy-child in supporting gender equity. ‘It is important that the boy-child does not feel left out. They should view the progress of women as a shared achievement that benefits both men and women,’ she said.
MultiChoice Namibia Managing Director Roger Gertze said the production forms part of the company’s efforts to document Namibian stories that inspire and inform. ‘Our purpose is to inform, inspire and preserve the narratives that shape our society. This evening we are deeply honoured to present a documentary that pays tribute to the journey of Her Excellency President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. This production is a celebration of her leadership and offers reflection on the challenges she has faced and overcome,’ he said.
The documentary will be available to the public on 29 October, which is also the president’s birthday.
