Namib Mills sponsors Top Score Oshiwana tournament

Namib Mills, through its Top Score brand, invested N.dollars 200 000 for its first ever Top Score 7-a-side Oshiwana tournament taking place at Oshakati this weekend.

The tournament will be held between Friday and Sunday.

Its launch took place on Wednesday night at an Oshakati hotel where the company announced the sponsorship which will cover both its organizing cost and prize money.

The tournament prizes include a floating trophy, gold, silver and bronze medals for the top three winning teams.

The winning team will scoop a top prize of a floating trophy, gold medals and N.dollars 15 000, the runners-up will receive silver medals and N.dollars 7 000 and the third prize is bronze medals and N.dollars 3 000.

In a speech read on her behalf during the launch, Namib Mills' senior brand manager, Marne Bouwer, said the aim of the tournament is to encourage people to use this social event to get together, to build life-long friendships and to get to know each other.

According to Bouwer, the original Top Score 7-a-side tournament was introduced to Oshakati some four years ago, where they gave opportunity to corporate companies to enter, but they thought of bringing it to community Oshiwana.

Bouwer explained that the tournament is about investing in the development of sport, ploughing back into the communities and community upliftment.

A total of 47 clubs, corporate and local businesses companies are participating in the tournament.
