The Brave Warriors were drawn into Group C at the 20th Council of Southern African Football Associations (Cosafa) 2021 Cup draw which took place at Nelson Mandela Bay City on Thursday.

Group C is arguably the toughest group as it features six-time Cosafa champions Zimbabwe, Confederation of African Football (Caf) number one-ranked nation Senegal and Mozambique, who lost the 2015 final to the Brave Warriors in Polokwane, South Africa.

The tournament will take place from 07 to 18 July 2021, and comes at the back of the cancellation of the 2020 event due to the COVID-19 outbreak last year.

Meanwhile, Group A will see hosts South Africa battle Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland, with defending champions Zambia facing Malawi, Comoros and Madagascar.

The competition will take on a new format for 2021 with the 12 teams split into three groups each containing four teams.

The top team in each pool, as well as the best second-place finisher, will advance to the semi-finals.

That means each side is guaranteed three games up to a maximum of five, which will provide vital preparation for those national teams involved in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers later this year.

There will be no Plate competition.
