Namibia: Man Clubs Sister to Death

A 36-YEAR-OLD woman died after her mentally challenged brother attacked her with a wooden club at Eenzile village in Omuthiya on Friday.

Police spokesperson chief inspector Kauna Shikwambi yesterday confirmed the incident during the media briefing in Windhoek.

The deceased was identified as Maria Tuuhulu Elifas, while her 46-year-old brother has been arrested and will appear at the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court today.

Shikwambi also said a resident of 8ste Laan in Windhoek found a body of a man identified as Rihamisa Nguase (36) lying in a yard on Saturday. The body had two stab wounds in the chest.

"We are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing to come forward and report," Shikwambi said.

Meanwhile, three suicides were reported over the weekend at Katutura, Khorixas and Groot Aub.

Shikwambi said all three were committed on Saturday and that the one in Katutura happened around 07h00 at a residence in Grysblock.

"The body of 19-year-old Hans Mitch was found hanging with a rope at his house. The deceased was a resident at that house, and did not leave a suicide note. The next of kin have been informed, and police investigations continue," she added.

The second suicide was reported at Khorixas at 07h00 where the body of 22-year-old policeman Herunga Katonene Otunuko was found hanging from a tree in a riverbed near the Khorixas State Hospital.

Another body, that of 27-year-old Richard Haragaeb, was found hanging in his shack at Groot Aub at around 23h00. He did not leave a suicide note.
