Namibia: Welwitschias Win Against Uganda

Namibia's senior national rugby team defeated Uganda 40-31 in the 2016 Africa Cup Division 1A in Uganda on Saturday.

Namibia's Welwitschias are in Division 1A with Kenya, Uganda and Zimbabwe. It is the highest division in the competition. The winner will be crowned Africa Cup champion.

In the Saturday match streamed live on Facebook, Namibia scored three tries in the first half through Chrysander Botha and Gino Wilson (two tries). Theuns Kotze converted all three tries to make the score 21-12 at halftime.

In the second half, the Welwitschias managed to score two more tries and a penalty try worth five points. Kotze converted the two tries.

Namibia will play their next match in the tournament against Kenya on 16 July at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek and against Zimbabwe on 06 August also in Windhoek.

The Africa Cup is an annual rugby union tournament involving African nations, organised by Rugby Africa in 2000. It is contested on an annual basis.

There are 23 nations playing in the 2016 Africa Cup. They are split into several divisions.
