NAMIBIA, ZAMBIA HOLDING JOINT DEFENCE AND SECURITY COMMISSION MEETING

WINDHOEK-- The Namibian Ministry of Defence is hosting the 21st session of the Namibia-Zambia Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security in Windhoek this week.

It said in a media statement here Tuesday that the session began on Monday and would conclude on Friday.

"The Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security is a platform that annually brings together both the political leadership and security sector personnel of the two countries to discuss matters of mutual interest in the areas of defence, security and immigration, amongst others," the statement said.

It added that such difficulties can be better dealt with through joint operations and information-sharing between the two neighbouring countries.

The 20th session of the Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security was held in Livingstone, Zambia, in September 2017. The two-day event resolved, among other matters, to enhance the existing bilateral co-operation between defence and security institutions of the two countries.
