NAMIBIAN PRESIDENT IN NEW YORK FOR UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY SESSION

NEW YORK, Namibian President Hage Geingob has arrived in New York City, accompanied by First Lady Monica Geingos, to attend the 2017 session of the United Nations General Assembly beginning here Tuesday.

They were received by a Namibian delegation comprising Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Co-operation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah; Minister of Mines and Energy Obeth Kandjoze; Minister of Economic Planning Tom Alweendo; and Minister of Urban and Rural Development Sophia Shaningwa.

Minister of Environment and Tourism Pohamba Shifeta is expected to arrive later this week.

Geingob is visiting the United States until Sept 22 and is expected to address the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on Sept 20.

He is also expected to hold private consultations with his counterparts from around the world as well as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
