Namibians Take On Challenge Roth

40-year-old Adele de la Rey and 46-year-old Anri Parker will be the first Namibian participants in the prestigious Challenge Roth Triathlon in Germany on 17 July in the quaint little town of Roth.

Challenge Roth is the oldest ultra triathlon in the world celebrating is 30th year this year. It consists of a 3,8km swim, followed by a 180km cycle and then a 42,2km marathon. More than 3 500 athletes are expected to take part in this epic journey.

Adele and Anri have been hard at work preparing for the event, running up and down the B1 main road come rain or shine.

Adele will be competing in the 40-45 year age group category and Anri in the 45-50 year age group category.

Athletes have 15 hours to complete the event that is supported by 300 000 screaming, beer-drinking Germans along the way. Jan Fradeno will attempt to break the world record that day as well.

It currently stands at a mind boggling seven hours 41 minutes where the average Roth athlete will take 13 to 14 hours to just finish the event.
