The Namibian government has rated the education of Namibians very highly since Independence, Erongo Region Governor, Neville Itope has said.

Speaking at the Ndume Medical Facility launch in Walvis Bay on Wednesday, Itope said the Ministry of Higher Education, Training and Innovation embarked on its mandate to ensure that quality higher education is delivered to the Namibian nation.

“This is through the advancement of quality programmes and credible projects. The three pillars on which the ministry is premised, namely higher education; vocational education; science, technology and innovation are geared at accelerating economic growth, sustainable development and poverty reduction in line with Vision 2030, the national development plans, Harambee Prosperity Plan 2 and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals,” said Itope.

He added that the government is therefore committed to fostering synergetic partnerships with members of the private sector who share the passion and dedication for inclusive growth in Namibia.

“Today more than ever, we have to stress the need for advancing our economic development in a manner where no one is left out, no matter the race, gender or creed. It is against this background that I want to thank Paulus Ndume of Ndume Medical Facility, a budding entrepreneur, who constantly looks for answers, to tackle with the Namibian government the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality. A man who not only looks at opportunities to make a profit but gears such opportunities against our national development plans and programmes,” said Itope.

Walvis Bay Mayor, Trevino Forbes at the event said: “We all know education is key and those who invest in the education of our youth are the trailblazers of our society. Ndume and partners, keep up the good work, it is initiatives like these that will make Walvis Bay one of the best port cities in Africa.”
