NamPol make arrest in Swakopmund pensioner robbery case

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) on Wednesday arrested a Namibian male suspect in a robbery with aggravating circumstances that occurred at Swakopmund on 20 May 2021.

In an incident report issued on Wednesday, NamPol said the suspect allegedly grabbed and dragged 82-year-old Herma Emmeriah into her flat while she was busy watering her lawn and strangled her with a piece of cloth.

“The victim was allegedly also robbed of valuable items with a combined value of N.dollars 33 500. They include five gold rings, a gold necklace and a Samsung Galaxy cell phone,” it said.

The victim was reportedly found in a stable condition, by the police.

NamPol recovered some of the stolen items and the suspect is expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. Police investigations into the matter continue.
