NamPol make several drug busts over the weekend

The police in Walvis Bay have arrested a 23-year-old male suspect for allegedly dealing in cannabis on Saturday.

This is contained in the Namibia Police Force (NamPol) weekend crime report on Sunday, which indicated that the suspect was allegedly found in possession of cannabis weighing 45 grams and valued at N.dollars 2 250. He is expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

A 22-year-old man was arrested for the alleged possession of cannabis also at Walvis Bay on Saturday, after he was found in possession of 16 grams of cannabis valued at N.dollars 800. He is expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday, it said.

An 18-year-old male suspect was further arrested for allegedly dealing with dependency producing drugs during a police search at Mariental on Friday. According to the report, the suspect was found in possession of 380 grams of cannabis valued at N.dollars 19 000.

Meanwhile, a 50- year-old Zimbabwean male suspect was arrested for Contravention of the Immigration Control Act at Mahenzere village in the Kavango West region on Friday.

“It is alleged that the suspect was found in Namibia, travelling by road from Rundu to Oshakati without any valid travelling documents or permit to enter into Namibia. It was later confirmed that the suspect came in the country through an ungazetted point of entry,” the report reads.

The suspect will appear at Kahenge Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

An Angolan female was further arrested for bribery on Friday after she allegedly offered N.dollars 200 to the complainant in order for him not to carry out his official duties at the Ruacana border post.

The suspect will appear at Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Police investigations into all matters continue.
