Nampol to launch ‘Turn Back Crime’ in Kavango West

The Namibian Police Force in the Kavango West Region will launch the 'Turn Back Crime' campaign at Kapako village next today.

Turn Back Crime is a global campaign of the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) to raise awareness of the dangers of organised crime and its impact on everyday life.

Speaking to the media on Monday, NamPol's unit commander of community affairs in Kavango West, Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga, said the region received a directive from NamPol Inspector General Sebastian Ndeitunga to launch the campaign since it is the only region in Namibia that has not yet done so.

He said this means that like the rest of the country, Kavango West will amongst others also have to implement activities that deal with cybercrime.

The police are expected to enlighten the public and the residents of the region of activities involving cybercrime such as the use of cellphones and social media, Muronga said.
