NamPol win SARPCCO football games and 32 medals

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) team is the overall champion in the soccer competition of the 2019 Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Coordination Organisation (SARPCCO) Games held at Luanda in Angola from 01-13 August.

NamPol Commissioner for Training and Development, MonalizaMolebugi has announced upon the team's arrival back home at the Oshikango border post in the Ohangwena Region on Friday.

The team's goalkeeper, Constable Willem Shikongo is the tournament's overall best goalkeeper, while famous Namibian athlete, LaviniaHaitope has collected 8 gold medals at the championship.

We collected 17 gold medals, 8 silvers and 7 bronzes, Molebugi reported to Inspector-General of NamPol, Lieutenant-General Sebastian Ndeitunga, who was also at Oshikango to receive the 119-member team officially on Friday afternoon.

Molebugi said the Namibian team has successfully defended its second position of the last games, after Zimbabwe which is the winning country of this year's SARPCCO Games.

Addressing the team on the ground of the OshikangoNamPol Station, Ndeitunga noted that Namibia won the soccer competition and successfully defended her second position because of the team members' discipline, dedication, teamwork and commitment.

You did us proud, and we are here to give you a heroes' welcome, Ndeitunga told members of the team, whilst at the same time urging them to start already preparing for the next SARPCCO Games.

It was the 10th SARPCCO tournament, which is hosted after each three years. The date and host country of the next games are as yet to be determined.
