Katima mulilo: The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) on Thursday held its regional elective general meeting to elect new regional leadership for the Katima Mulilo branch. For several years, the NCCI has been without a formal branch leadership structure in the Zambezi Region and other parts of the country, following the dissolution of the previous regional leadership.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the new NCCI Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Titus Nampala, stated that reviving these regional NCCI structures in the country is a top priority. He emphasized the necessity of these structures for a thriving business sector in Namibia. Paid-up NCCI members from various business sizes elected Sharon Limbo of Riverside Guest House as the chairperson of the Katima Mulilo regional branch, with Frank Ntemwa of Caprivi Isaiah Tours and Safaris as the deputy.
The other regional executive committee (exco) members include Mwaka Mukendwa, Richard Kakona, Sannety Sanyambe, Clara Likokoto, Inonge Mabakeng, and Michelle Nguvauva. These new members represent a mix of micro, small, medium, large, and corporate enterprises. Their aim is to strengthen the private sector’s voice, reconnect with local businesses, and host annual general meetings.
As per the NCCI constitution, these teams will lead local business advocacy and policy dialogue for two years. CEO Nampala highlighted the importance of unlocking local economic growth to foster a thriving business sector. He urged the newly elected members to collaborate with other executive committees in different towns and to bring business ideas together as a team.
Sharon Limbo promised to work closely with her team and to be readily available to serve at all times. She noted the importance of NCCI’s visibility in strategic institutions and places within the region to represent the business community’s concerns and proposals across all sectors.
Gabriel Erastus of the NCCI secretariat pledged to provide guidelines to the new team and encouraged them to reach out to the secretariat for guidance. NCCI serves as a representative body for the private sector nationwide.
