Ndiyona constituency councillor who stands accused of allegedly assaulting his wife on Christmas Day

Ndiyona constituency councillor Eugen Likuwa, who stands accused of allegedly assaulting his wife on Christmas Day, was released on bail of N.dollars 5000, here yesterday.

The 49-year-old Likuwa was released on bail when his formal bail application was brought before Magistrate Hellen Olaiya in the Rundu Magistrate's Court.

Likuwa who was absent during the continuation of his bail application due to illness was arrested on Sunday on charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm read with the domestic violence act.

He allegedly punched his wife several times and strangled her, which resulted in the victim sustaining serious injuries.

During his formal bail application on Friday, Magistrate Olaiya released the accused on bail without any conditions and postponed the case to 20 April 2020.
