Windhoek: Nedbank Namibia hosted its first-ever Future of Business Conference in Windhoek on Thursday, under the theme ‘Redefining Businesses of Tomorrow.’ Speaking at the event, Nedbank Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jason Quinn, emphasised the importance of the conference, describing it as more than just a gathering, but a catalyst for shaping the future of business in Namibia.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Quinn highlighted the role of the conference in fostering new ideas and partnerships aimed at driving practical innovations. He reaffirmed Nedbank’s commitment to supporting and growing businesses across Namibia, expressing the bank’s readiness to collaborate with the government in creating sustainable revenue through infrastructure financing.
Quinn also expressed optimism about the Sixth National Development Plan, which focuses on economic growth, human development, environmental sustainability, and effective governance. He noted a genuine willingness from the government to form partnerships, recognising the importance of public-private collaboration for economic growth.
In addition to discussing the broader goals of the conference, Quinn announced the launch of the PayToday app in Namibia. He described the app as a homegrown digital payment solution designed to address the country’s unique challenges. Quinn stated that the app represents a local solution for local opportunities, particularly in urban areas where digital payments are becoming increasingly common.
The one-day conference included discussions on the future of communication and IT, as well as the future of leadership, aiming to equip businesses with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the changing business landscape.
