Windhoek: Coinciding with the launch of the Nedbank Desert Dash, the #GetMoneyFit campaign reflects Nedbank’s commitment to the overall well-being of Namibians, focusing on both physical and financial endurance. Speaking at the event, JG van Graan, Chief Commercial Officer at Nedbank, emphasized the campaign’s goal to make financial concepts more relatable and practical.
According to Namibia Press Agency, van Graan stated that the campaign aims to equip people with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop intentional habits that will compound over time and lead to lasting financial success. He highlighted the need for guidance in financial journeys, drawing parallels to fitness journeys where a coach or guide is often required. Nedbank’s role is to provide solutions that align current habits with future goals.
The campaign is founded on the principle that financial fitness, similar to physical fitness, demands consistent effort and the right support. It encourages individuals to evaluate their financial health by considering key questions such as their current status, necessary habit changes, and future goals. To assist with this, Nedbank offers tools like the Nedbank Money App, which features budgeting tools, spending trackers, and credit score dashboards to facilitate informed financial decisions.
Van Graan acknowledged the reality of financial stress but stressed that small, intentional actions repeated over time can lead to transformation. He noted that financial fitness is about progress rather than perfection, and the campaign is designed to be inclusive, encouraging participation from all Namibians, regardless of income or life stage. He compared financial fitness to race training, emphasizing the need for commitment.
