New Coca-Cola Bottling Factory Begins Operations in Zhengzhou

Zhengzhou: A new factory of Swire Coca-Cola Ltd., a bottler of Coca-Cola, was put into operation Thursday in Zhengzhou, capital of central China’s Henan Province. The new facility marks the first world-class factory unveiled as part of the company’s 12 billion-yuan (1.69 billion-U.S. dollar) investment commitment in China. It spans nearly 200 mu (13.33 hectares), with an investment of over 900 million yuan, and boasts an annual production capacity of over 1 million tonnes.



According to Namibia Press Agency, the Chinese market has been a significant engine for the stable operation of Swire Coca-Cola. Karen So, CEO of Swire Coca-Cola Ltd., emphasized the company’s dedication to the region, highlighting the new factory’s integration of comprehensive, sustainable practices and ongoing innovation accumulated over six decades. This development underscores Swire Coca-Cola’s long-term commitment to contributing to high-quality development in China.



The Zhengzhou factory incorporates green and intelligent elements, featuring over 30 green and low-carbon measures, including smart hot water centers, refrigeration, and photovoltaic power generation. The facility integrates over 30 digital systems, enabling intelligent scheduling throughout the entire process, from order placement and inventory to packaging and shipping, with the help of sorting robots and automated guided vehicles.



In 2023, Swire Coca-Cola revealed plans to invest over 12 billion yuan in the Chinese mainland over the next decade, focusing on expanding production capacity to meet market demands. The company’s production base project in Hainan Province is scheduled to begin construction at the end of 2025, with new factories in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and the Greater Bay Area in Guangdong Province expected to commence operations in 2026.
