Gobabis: The current Okorukambe Constituency councillor Rocco Nguvauva, following his recent victory in the Swapo Party’s primaries, promised continuous development in the Omaheke Region’s vast constituency. Nguvauva told Nampa in an interview on Monday that his re-election is based on his previous delivery to all the Okorukambe inhabitants and will continue if he wins in the upcoming regional council elections.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Nguvauva expressed gratitude for the support from his constituents and emphasized his commitment to development. ‘I am very humbled by the support everyone has given me, and I promise development as your representative from Okorukambe. I will listen to your concerns and will always put your interests first,’ he said.

Nguvauva described his endorsement as a collective mandate with a broad vision centered on transparency, sustainability, and development for all. Reflecting on his first term achievements, he acknowledged the challenges posed by the outbreak of the novel coronavirus but highlighted significant initiatives such as drilled boreholes and livestock projects that benefited various residents.

In addition to infrastructure projects, Nguvauva noted educational and youth empowerment efforts, including the payment of tuition fees for nine students at higher learning institutions and the provision of building and welding materials to young people. He also supported local football teams with new kits and aided youth groups in Skoonheid, Epukiro RC, and Omitara in agricultural and business endeavors.

Nguvauva played a crucial role in acquiring two farms where 45 families were resettled, and facilitated the recruitment of at least 27 youth into the Namibian Defence Force, Namibian Police Force, and Namibian Correctional Service. Further accomplishments include the electrification of Omitara and Du Plessis and providing horticulture training for young individuals.

He also mentioned the success of chicken projects that have enabled more than 30 inhabitants to become suppliers to major retailers such as Megasave and Metro in Gobabis and other areas. Nguvauva reaffirmed his belief in the Swapo Party’s ability to restore dignity to the people and urged the electorate to support the party in the upcoming November elections, emphasizing that it remains the only party that prioritizes people’s livelihoods.
