The Nkurenkuru Combined School in the Kavango West Region received text books to the value of N.dollars 350 000 from retired German diplomat, Wolfgang Fiedler on Thursday.

The diplomat who has been assisting Namibian schools since 1978 and over 50 schools, also donated stationery and sport balls to the school.

Fiedler raises funds by engaging businesses and well-off families in Germany to support schools in Namibia.

During the official handover he encouraged the learners to take good care of the donated books and other items in order for the next generation after them to also utilise.

In 2010 he donated Rukwangali text books and sport balls in 2011 to the same school.

Nkurenkuru Combined School principal, Frans Ngoma, stated that the journey of education is made possible by benefactors such as Fiedler.

In January this year, Fiedler also handed over two blocks of four classrooms, two storage rooms and a standalone pre-primary class with its own kitchen and ablution facilities to the Mukekete Primary School in the Kavango West’s Mpungu circuit, valued at N.dollars 2.6 million.

This school started off with just one classroom block and temporary structures, and benefited from Fiedler’s assistance over the years.

He ensured that the school got a fully-furnished hostel block, kitchen, water borehole, stationeries, classroom blocks and got the school fenced off, bringing the total expenditure to N.dollars 5.5 million.
