No payment for volunteering towards mass land servicing: Tweya

TUGUEGARAO CITY: The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) chair and regional director of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Norma Talosig said that provincial, municipal and other local disaster risk reduction councils in the region have been alerted to implement preparations for Super Typhoon “Hanna” to ensure the safety of the residents.

Talosig said dump trucks would be deployed in municipalities near the Cagayan River and the provincial health office to provide medicines to the district hospitals with the ambulance, doctors and nurses ready to respond to emergency cases.

She also said that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-2) will also have relief goods ready for distribution and rescue teams with rubber boats are on standby.

Talosig likewise said that coordination was already made with the local offices of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Air Force (PAF), other government agencies and private organizations for the implementation of precautionary measures.

All these preparations, she said, even as super typhoon Hanna is forecast not to make a landfall in the country but it will enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat) expected to bring rains. (PNA)
