Okahandja pensioner allegedly stabbed by her son

A 60-year-old woman on Tuesday morning was stabbed with a spear five times at Farm Friedenau plot no. six outside Okahandja allegedly by her 20-year-old last born son.

Spokesperson of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha in an interview with Nampa on Wednesday said the woman sustained serious injuries and was transferred that Tuesday to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital in Windhoek.

According to Mbeha the eye witnesses of the incident told the police that the suspect had allegedly attacked his mother with fists and later went for a spear inside the house which he used to stab her five times all over the body.

The woman survived the savage attack and we are still determining its cause, she said.

The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident on a charge of attempted murder and is expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Police investigations continue.
