Okangwena double murder suspect apprehended

The suspect accused of killing his 37-year-old girlfriend and daughter at Ondangwa on Sunday morning has been arrested.

The mother, Ruth Ndapandua Immanuel and her two-year-old daughter, identified as Kandume Lovisa, died on Sunday morning after they were allegedly stabbed by the woman’s boyfriend at Okangwena location in Ondangwa.

Namibian Police Force (NamPol) spokesperson for the Oshana Region, Thomas Aiyambo, said in a statement issued Sunday that the suspect has since been apprehended.

“He was found hiding in one of his rooms in his house at Okangwena location in Ondangwa,” the statement said.

The mother died shortly after arrival at Onandjokwe Hospital, while the daughter died on the spot.

Aiyambo said the deceased woman’s 13-year-old son was taken to the same hospital, where he is undergoing surgery as he too was allegedly stabbed, while the woman’s other daughter, aged five, was taken for counselling as she allegedly witnessed the stabbings.

According to Aiyambo, the suspect and the deceased woman were in a relationship and had three children together.

“It is yet to be known what happened that the led suspect to kill his child and girlfriend,” he said.

Police investigations in the matter continue.
