OndangwaAirport renamed to the AndimbaToivoyaToivo

The Ondangwa Airport was yesterday renamed to the AndimbaToivoyaToivo Airport in honour of one of Namibia's gallant heroes and pioneering veterans of the country's liberation struggle.

Vice-President NangoloMbumba, on behalf of President HageGeingob, officiated at the renaming ceremony which was also attended by Founding President, Sam Nujoma, former President HifikepunyePohamba and the late YaToivo's family members.

Addressing the renaming gathering, Mbumba described YaToivo as an unwavering freedom fighter, selfless giant and true Namibian freedom torch bearer.

According to him, it was in Ondangwa at YaToivo's modern shop where he issued Swapo membership cards to many freedom fighters.

Mbumba added that it is befitting to rename Ondangwa Airport after YaToivo, because it was in Ondangwa where he carried out Swapo's political activities, as the organisation's secretary for northern Namibia.
