Opawa and Evale win NFCPT football tournament

The Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) has commended the Oshikoto school teams that participated in the 7-aside soccer tournament that took place in the region to celebrate the 2019 National Fish Consumption Day (NFCD) last week.

The tournament was titled Hon Bernhard Esau Soccer Tournament, named after Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Bernhard Esau.

Public Relations Officer of the trust, De Wet Siluka said four girl soccer teams and 14 boy soccer teams were selected from various schools in the region's 11 constituencies to participate in the tournament that kicked off on Friday and ended on Saturday.

Opawa Combined School (CS) won the tournament's boys soccer competition and was awarded N.dollars 5 000, Oniipa Primary School (PS) in the second place received N.dollars 3 000 and Niigambo CS got N.dollars 1 500 in the third place of this category.

In the girls soccer category, Evale CS is the winner and took home also N.dollars 5 000, followed by King Kauluma CS in the second place with a prize of N.dollars 3 000, while Khomxa Khoeda CS got N.dollars 1 500 in the third position.

The 2020 NFCD will be held in the //Karas Region.
