Organisers ready for thrilling Tour de Windhoek

Mannie Heymans one of the organisers for Tour de Windhoek says this year's event will see a lot of exciting racing when the Tour de Windhoek starts tomorrow (Friday) on the Dordabis road.

The third edition of the revamped Tour de Windhoek which serves as a perfect platform for local riders to experience the thrill of professional cycling, will be held from 20 to 22 September 2019.

The race, which is separated into five stages, will see riders covering 400 kilometres (km) over the three days, with distances varying from 107km for Dordabis to 23km in the time trials

Speaking to Nampa Heymans from Lema Events said there are six South African male teams and one female team which will add more excitement to the race.

It's going to be spectacle event this year because South Africa's best teams are here and come tomorrow the competition will be tight and fun, he said.

He added that spectators must fill up the Tony Rust Race track on Friday afternoon were the teams will be doing their time trials.

They will be lapping the 2.6km track very fast which will be fun to see. On Saturday the Dobra loop will also be exciting as we are doing two loops this year instead of just one and stage four of the race which will be in front of Pupkewitz Mega Built will also be fun,

Heyman stated that racing is going to be close for this year because all stronger South African teams will make the competition exciting.

There will be 16 men's team competing at this year with six male teams from South African while the women teams will be six and one from South Africa.

The South African teams are Office Guru, Nolan Hofman last year winner this year's coming with his own team, Team Pro Touch (two teams), Team Tech cycling, Team ADT Luther.
