Oshana police arrest three for alleged possession of pangolin skins

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Region over the weekend arrested three Namibian men of the age 32, 37 and 42 on charge of possession of controlled wildlife products.

Confirming the arrest to Nampa on Monday, Warrant Officer Frieda Shikole-Ashiyana of the NamPol's Community Affairs office in the region said the trio was apprehended at Oniimwandi village on the Oshakati-Okahao main road last Friday.

Shikole-Ashiyana said the suspects were found with three Pangolin skins worth N.dollars 150 000.

According to Shikole-Ashiyana, the skins were detected through a Police search and were found hidden in the boot of the suspects' vehicle.

She could not disclose the names of the suspects, as they have not yet appeared in court and Police investigations into the matter were ongoing.
