Otavi Teacher Survives Stabbing By Boyfriend

A female teacher at the Shalom Primary School in Otavi survived seven stab wounds inflicted by her boyfriend there on Wednesday.

Sonnet Mundia Simasiku, 34, was admitted to the Tsumeb State Hospital with stab wounds to the chest, back and forehead.

The 29-year-old boyfriend from the Zambezi Region used a knife and a screwdriver to attack Simasiku.

The suspect was arrested on the scene of the crime.

The victim is in a stable condition, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol)’s Otjozondjupa Public Relations’ Officer, Sergeant Maureen Mbeha told Nampa on Thursday.

The police officer said the two reportedly quarrelled terribly last week after Simasiku allegedly decided to end their relationship.

“Some police officers from the Otavi police station had to intervene, and urged them to resolve their differences amicably,” she addd.

Simasiku then locked the suspect out of her house on Wednesday evening around 23h00, but he opened a window with a screwdriver and entered the house situated in Park Street, Otavi.

It is alleged that the suspect went straight to Simasiku’s bedroom, and stabbed her with a knife and later with the screwdriver he had used to open the window with.

He is expected to appear in the Otavi Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Police investigations continue.
