The Otjozondjupa Regional Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) conference held at Otjiwarongo, on Saturday elected Alfeus Kamati as the new regional SPYL secretary.
This was confirmed by Otjozondjupa Swapo Party regional coordinator, Susan Hikopua in an interview with Nampa on Sunday, saying, Kamati who is from Otjiwarongo district, competed for the position with Ndjizera Ndjizera from Grootfontein.
Eufransia Jonas was elected to the position of regional SPYL secretary for information, publicist and mobilisation, while Nestor Shilongo is the new regional treasurer.
“Jonas and Shilongo were elected unopposed,” Hikopua said.
She also stated that the youth league conference elected Anastansia Mavara and Otja Muniazu as the two additional members of the new regional executive committee.
'The newly elected SPYL Otjozondjupa Regional leadership was then tasked by the conference to nominate other two additional members who will form part of the newly established regional executive committee while it will also have to nominate 10 names to form part of the delegate that will travel to Oshakati in the Oshana Region for the national SPYL congress,'Hikopua said.
The national congress is slated for 17 to 20 August 2022.
The regional conference was attended by more than 50 youth league members from the seven districts of Omatako, Okahandja, Okakarara, Otjiwarongo, Otavi, Grootfontein and Tsumkwe as well as several national youth league leaders including former national SPYL central committee member, Felix Haingura.
Samuel Paulus and Ndahafa Hapulile who are serving in the national SPYL central committee including Otjozondjupa Governor, James Uerikua, also attended the conference.
The new leadership will serve for a period of five years.
