PDM electoral college set for 28 September 2019

The Popular Democratic Movement announced that its electoral college is set for 28 September 2019 and the preparations have commenced.

Addressing a media conference on Monday, PDM secretary general Manuel Ngaringombe said the party will be deliberate to include members of the youth as well as women from all regions.

Out of the five nominated three must be women and one member from the youth. The women's League, Youth League and the Elders' Council each will nominate five members to the electoral college, Ngaringombe said.

The branches in other countries will nominate three of which one should be youth and one a woman.

Responding to questions posted by Nampa, Ngaringombe said the party will only launch its manifesto two months ahead of the national elections to ensure Namibians will still remember it on voting day.

If we give these documents four months, five months, six months before an election, i mean, who will read and still know (by the time of elections. So we think two months before elections, if you have your manifesto then, people will read it every day and know what we are saying and it is the right time, Ngaringombe explained.

He also said PDM has been campaigning and going door-to-door since last year but now it will just pick up.

PDM is set to launch its election manifesto under the theme 'Strategy Namibia' at the end of September.

On 27 November, Namibia will hold its Presidential and National Assembly elections.
