Popular Democratic Movement ( PDM) secretary general, Manuel Ngaringombe, has questioned why lawyer Sisa Namandje has still not yet been arrested for his alleged involvement in the Fishrot corruption scandal.

Ngaringombe made these remarks during the introduction of their candidate, Frans Chimbango, for the Ncamagoro by-election on 17 December 2021.

The by-election was necessitated by the death of councilor Johannes Sikondo on 19 September 2021.

‘I want to talk to the prosecutor general. Why is it that only some people are in jail while Namandje is roaming the streets? Is it because he is well connected?’ he charged.

He said PDM wants Namandje to face the wrath of the law just like all the others.

During the gathering, Ngaringombe also called on the ruling Swapo Party to stop denying that it received funds from Fishrot and to come clean instead.

Meanwhile the secretary general said if elected, their candidate will be a servant of the people.

He said if PDM takes over the constituency, they will pilot rural solar electrification.

The party, he noted, will also make sure that each and every household has its own toilet instead of having to use communal toilets.

On his part, Chimbango said Ncamagoro constituency has a lack of access to water and if elected these are some of the issues he will address. Another issue he will address is electrification, explaining that many of the households in Ncamagoro use candles, which in many instances also leads to huts burning down.

The Swapo Party will again contest the elections and has fielded Thomas Kavau, while the Independent Patriots for Change have fielded Tjiwawa Kambinda.

Two independent candidates, Nyundu Moses and Shindimba Ladislaus, will also contest the by-election.
