Police in the Oshana Region are investigating a case of damage to property after 10 tombstones

The police in the Oshana Region are investigating a case of damage to property after 10 tombstones were removed from graves in the Oshakati graveyard over the weekend.

Inspector Thomas Aiyambo of the Namibian Police Force's Public Relations Unit in the region told Nampa on Monday nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident yet.

However, a charge of malicious damage to property has been registered at the Oshakati Police Station by relatives of those buried in the graves which tombstones were removed from.

The tombstones were removed from graves in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN) cemetery situated in Oshakati West.

Some of the removed structures were found hidden underground some 100 metres from the graveyard, while the tracks of a vehicle thought to have been used to transport the tombstones, were found in the vicinity.
