NamPower on Thursday confirmed the restoration of electricity to all parts of the Rundu Central Business District, following an outage that started Monday morning and also affected the Tutungeni residential area.

NamPower’s Area Manager for the Northern Regions, Petrus Immanuel, in a statement on Thursday said following an intensive investigation, the technical team established that the outage was a result of a burnt compartment in the transformer at the Rundu substation. The power utility had since Tuesday dispatched a stand-by mobile substation from Okatope substation in the Oshana Region to Rundu as an alternative measure.

NamPower apologised to the residents of Rundu for the inconvenience the power outage caused.
