President has deferred questions directed to Vice President on what he has done in that portfolio since assuming the role in 2018

President Hage Geingob has deferred questions directed to Vice President (VP) Nangolo Mbumba on what he has done in that portfolio since assuming the role in 2018.

The President did not want Mbumba to justify why the position of VP should not be abolished, amid criticism that it is a waste of money, saying the latter should not be asked to justify what he does as VP as he did not “appoint himself” into that position.

Geingob made these remarks when he was responding to questions by local journalists at State House yesterday during a media briefing.

Geingob said those who do not want there to be a position of VP in government must amend the constitution, instead of complaining when a constitutional provision is fulfilled.

During the press conference, Mbumba was asked why his position is not a waste of taxpayers’ money as purported by critics or to give an account of what he has done since occupying that office.

Geingob however interjected.
